Let’s connect
Brianna O’Keeffe, founder of Virginia Green Data Center Initiative, smiling in a seated portrait.

Why I started the initiative

A growing industry.
A deeply human question.

I started Virginia Green Data Center Initiative because the decisions we make about digital infrastructure reach far beyond the buildings themselves. They touch our communities, our natural resources, the way we work, and the future we are preparing for.

There is real opportunity here, and there are real questions that deserve careful answers. I want residents to be able to understand what is proposed, ask informed questions, and see whether commitments are being met. I also want conversations that make room for the people building and operating these systems to explain their work.

My passion is making those conversations more useful. That means tracing a statistic back to its source, listening when someone raises a concern, and being willing to revise an idea when the evidence points somewhere new.

The experience behind the initiative

Understanding people.
Leading change.

I bring a behavioral science perspective to AI adoption, organizational change, and public policy, with a focus on how decisions affect people at work and in their communities.

I/O psychology & AI

My specialty / AI & the workforce

Helping people thrive
as work changes.

My specialty is applying industrial and organizational (I/O) psychology to AI-driven workplaces. I focus on how people respond to new technology, how organizations prepare their workforce, and how leaders guide change with clarity and purpose.

Workforce readiness and AI adoption

I’m focused on the human conditions that support adoption: understanding employee concerns, building confidence and relevant skills, and creating opportunities for people to learn and contribute as new tools become part of their work.

Change management and leadership

My approach centers on clear communication, employee participation, and leaders who listen. I care about how organizations explain why a change is happening, prepare managers to support their teams, and use feedback to improve implementation.

Work design and human judgment

I also focus on how AI changes roles, responsibilities, and collaboration. My priorities include meaningful work, employee well-being, clear accountability, and thoughtful decisions about where human judgment remains essential.

This is why data centers belong in my broader work on AI. I care about both the infrastructure supporting these technologies and the people whose working lives and communities are changing alongside them. Through this initiative, I bring that perspective to conversations about innovation, public trust, and responsible growth.
